Tigers are the largest cat species on earth.  They historically ranged across most of Asia, but their habitat is limited to small fragments today.  There are only 3,000-4,000 tigers living in the wild.  White tigers are a genetic variant of "normal" "orange" tigers.   They have been widely bred in captivity, due to their novelty.
